LOL

LOL is an acronym that I use pretty often when typing on the computer or texting. "LOL" stands for laugh(ing) out loud, for those of you who don't know this. (Like my sweet, but very low-tech parents.) I am definitely an over-user of the LOL.  Sometimes I'll type LOL, but I'm not actually doing it.  Maybe I'm the only person who is that way.  Maybe everybody else is actually laughing out loud as they type LOL.  I usually just want that person to know that I think what they are saying is funny, even if my laugh isn't audible.  But this past friday I had a couple things happen to me that actually caused me to laugh out loud.

"LOL" moment #1...

I went out to run some errands while Ethan was napping and decided to stop by Home Depot.  I park the car, open the door, step out of the car, and WHOOPS...I slip and fall. Thankfully I was able to catch myself before falling all the way to the ground. It snowed here on thursday and there was still a little bit on the ground. So, I stand up and get myself together and remind myself that I need to be more careful walking on this ice...because one would assume that it's ice, right? Nope! I look down at my feet and what do I find? A banana peel. Yup, you heard me, A BANANA PEEL!!! Really? I thought that only happened in cartoons and on mario kart. But, apparently it also happens to unsuspecting people in the parking lot of Home Depot. I tried to take a picture of the evidence with my phone, but it was already too dark. I did however find this cartoon and clip art...

"LOL" moment #2...
Ever since last wednesday there had been something missing in my life. The sweet sound of my Verizon cell phone ringing! We realized on thursday that I was able to call out, but I was not able to receive any incoming calls.  After waiting to see if the problem would fix itself, I finally broke down and called Verizon friday night. (I so do not enjoy having to make phone calls like this and wait on hold forever!) I explained my situation to the very nice guy and at first he said that he had no idea why my phone would be doing this. I believe he said something like "That seems really strange, let me look into your account and see if I can figure out what the problem is." to be exact. After a few minutes of hold music, he came back on the line and said "Mrs. Howell, it looks like you have forwarded your calls to the number 9." To which I respond "Huh? I barely know how to view my minutes, much less forward my calls. And what do you mean to the number 9?" After a few minutes of chatting and figuring out how to correct the problem, I found out that to forward your calls you just have to press *72 and then type in the phone number that you want your calls forwarded to. *72...9. "Hmm...I think that I know what happened. Thank you so much for all of your help. Have a great night!"  EEETTTHHHHHAAAANNNNN!!! (said in the voice of Dave from Alvin and the chipmunks of course) Yes, my son...who is not even 2 yet took my phone and forwarded my calls to the number 9. :) Who would ever think that such an adorable little angel could make such a big mess? Mommy loves you Ethan!

SNOW DAY!!!

Sunday night while we were asleep, our yard was getting a beautiful makeover. We woke up to about 4 inches  of snow. Doesn't snow make everything look better?

We took advantage of our "snow day" and tried to get some things done around the house. (We are coming up on 3 months in our new house and we still have quite a few projects.) We did play a little though. Here are some pics of Ethan in the snow and one VERY sad attempt at a snowman.

When we got finished playing Ethan was ready for a nap. He napped peacefully and we painted our bathroom. For those of you who don't know, our hot water heater had an accident just before Christmas and leaked through the ceiling in one of our bathrooms. This particular bathroom was not one of the projects we had at the top of our "To Do" list, but we decided to go ahead and squeeze it in. It's a pretty small bathroom, so it shouldn't take too much time or money. It is currently a work in progress, but I do plan to show some before and after pictures in a future blog titled "Bathroom on a Budget." So, be on the look out!

To top off the wonderful day we decided to make snow ice cream. Super Easy and yummy...all you do is mix a can of sweetened condensed milk in with a big bowl of clean powdery snow. We decided to mix some M&Ms in with ours. It was kind of like an M&M Mcflurry from McDonald's. We all enjoyed making and eating it together. (Andrew enjoyed his while enjoying the big game tonight and yes, I do still have my stockings up.)

That's a wrap to a wonderful winter day. The boys are in bed now and I am up past midnight, as usual, typing my very first blog post. I do want to thank my sweet sister-in-law Erin for helping me get my family blog set up and looking all fancy. I am going to try my best to keep this thing Up-to-date! I hope that you are enjoying your week so far, snow or no snow. I know that I sure am enjoying making these special memories with my boys. The End. :)
